Frequently asked questions
If you’ve got questions about anything to do with your wedding cake design or the way the process works, this page might well have the answers you need.
If you’ve got a burning question that isn’t covered here, then don’t worry – I’m here to help! Send me an email on [email protected], and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. If you’d like to make an enquiry about your elegant, modern wedding cake, head over to the contact page, and fill out the form there. I can’t wait to hear from you.
When should we contact you?
While the wedding cake design process usually starts around 6 months before your wedding day, I’m often booked up long in advance. If you know you want your wedding cake to be a showstopper that plays an important role in your celebration, I’d recommend getting in touch as soon as you’ve set your date and booked your venue.
Where in the country do you cover?
I live on the border of Hampshire and Berkshire, but regularly work with clients and venues across Surrey, West Sussex, Greater London, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire.
Will we get to try some flavours before we decide on our wedding cake design?
Yes, absolutely! This is one of the most fun parts of the design experience, and it’s important that you get to taste a range of flavours to decide on your favourites. We’ll do this during your wedding cake consultation session, where all the ideas start coming to life. You will receive a delicious wedding cake sample box prior to your consultation so you have the opportunity to try some delicious flavours and we can discuss your favourites.
We’re trying to work out our budget. Do you have a price list you can send us?
I understand that you’ll need to be budgeting for a whole host of lovely things on your wedding day, and I want to make the process as stress-free as possible for you. However, to have a fixed list of prices would be doing your finished wedding cake a disservice. Every wedding cake I design is completely bespoke, and will need to be costed for its unique combination of flavours, finishes and design elements. You can get an idea of my prices and minimum spends over on the Flavours and Prices page, and you’ll receive a detailed quote alongside your hand drawn sketches.
We’ve got our heart set on a flavour that’s not on your list. Can you make it for us?
I love a challenge! I do offer a comprehensive range of flavours (and you can find out more about them on the Flavours and Prices page), but I’m always happy to get creative and cook up something new for you. Let me know which flavour you’re dreaming of, and I’ll see what I can do. An extra fee may apply for new flavour creation, but this will be discussed with you on a case-by-case basis.
I’ve seen a wedding cake I love on Pinterest, can you make it for me?
This is a tricky one. While I LOVE Pinterest, and I totally understand how useful it is as a wedding planning tool. However, that doesn’t mean I’m ok with copying the work of another cake designer. By all means, send me images and styles that you love, but let’s work together to create something that’s unique to you for your wedding – your celebration (and my integrity as a luxury cake artist) deserves it!
Lots of our guests have dietary requirements, can you cater to them?
I’m afraid I’m not able to cater to all dietary requirements, and I don’t offer vegan or dairy free cakes. However, I can make gluten free and nut free cakes, so get in touch and let me know the specifics you’re looking for. Please note, though, that while I can make gluten and nut free cakes, I can’t guarantee they will be free of traces, as I work in a kitchen that handles these ingredients.
Will you set up the wedding cake at our venue?
Yes, don’t worry – you won’t be required to transport your own cake! I’ll liaise with your venue, and will arrange for delivery and set up. If your wedding cake is to be part of another piece of décor, I’ll also get in touch with your florist or lighting designers to make sure the cake is styled the way you planned.
We’d love to have edible favours as our place cards. Can we personalise them?
I love any opportunity to make things more personal. My favours and smaller sweet treats include sugar cookies, cupcakes, macarons and cakesicles (find out more about them here). Get in touch to discuss design and customisation options – there are so many possibilities!
