When I got a message from the lovely wedding team at the Elvetham in Hampshire to ask if I’d like to be involved in a Christmas wedding styled shoot, I have to admit I got pretty excited. Not only is the Elvetham a stunning venue, I love Christmas and weddings!
The theme for the shoot obviously incorporated Christmas but in a beautifully natural, romantic way – think candles, twinkly lights, lush foliage.
I arrived at the Elvetham on the day of the shoot and it looked beautiful – a layer of snow had fallen over the previous days and it just looked like a beautiful winter wonderland. As I drove up the long drive, I admired the beautifully manicured grounds and the site of the magnificent country house, which dates back to the 16th Century and was the venue that King Henry VIII fell in love with Jane Seymour.
I joined the styled shoot team inside the house and the atmosphere was buzzing with Christmas spirit with fairy lights and Christmas trees scattered all around the venue. The ceremony room had been set up beautifully by the lovely ladies at Ether Events and featured blush sashes elegantly draped over the chairs, candles lining the aisle and a gorgeous Christmas tree standing proud next to the ornate fire place.
In the main reception room, a long trestle table had been beautifully styled with lush winter foliage, candles, and rich green napkins. The table included subtle hints to Christmas such as dried orange slices, fir sprigs and green and gold edible favours.
The wedding cake that I provided for the shoot was a modern 4 tier design in white with blush sugar flowers and green foliage. The bottom tier featured delicate vertical ruffles to add movement and texture to the design. The cake took centre stage in the middle of a tall mahogany table surrounded by a beautiful floral arch installed by Ether Events that was scattered with twinkly fairy lights. The rich mahogany backdrop gave the cake an almost ethereal quality, like it was floating!
Outside, the wonderful Melissa from Melissa Megan Photography was capturing our beautiful model Leanne in her gorgeous lace gown from Boo Bridal Boutique in the stunning snow-capped grounds of the Elvetham and later in front of the grand staircase in side the house surrounding by candles and a show-stopper Chirstmas tree.
I feel so lucky to have been involved in the shoot, which involved so may of my favourite things – a stunning wedding venue, an amazing team of suppliers, showcasing my crreativy and skills….and Christmas of course!
