I’m so thrilled to share the details of this beautiful wedding! When I first received the enquiry for this cake from the lovely Lucy of Lucy Meehan Events, I was so excited. The mood board Lucy sent me was just so beautiful – gorgeous pastel peach and blue tones with an abundance of florals. And the wedding was taking place at the stunning Syon Park, just outside London.
The couple were keen to keep their cake style quite relaxed and had visions of a 3 tier cake with subtle texturing and soft, fresh florals, with the addition of some macarons to really treat their guests to something sweet.
Following an online consultation with the couple, I sketched up some cake design options for them and, after taking elements from each that they loved, I came up with a 3 tier sugarpaste design with torn edges to give a slightly more modern and informal feel. The top and bottom tiers featured subtle stone effect texturing with hints of pale peach to tie in with their colour scheme. The design was completed with 2 gorgeous posies of fresh flowers, to be supplied by their florist, the incredible Mary Jane Vaughn. The bride and groom-to-be also had the opportunity to try some of my flavours before the consultation and settled on their favourite, Raspberry & white chocolate for 2 of their tiers. Wanting to offer their guests something light and seasonal, they chose lemon and elderflower for their 3rd tier.
To compliment and draw in their colour scheme further, we added delicious pale peach and blue macarons. These mirrored their favourite cake flavour and were filled with a touch of homemade raspberry conserve and a generous serving of white chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream.
When I arrived at Syon Park on the day of the wedding, there was the usual hive of activity. The great conservatory was being set up for the couple’s reception by their caterers Admirable Crichton , whilst they were saying their vows over in the main house. Beautiful clear glass charger plates with pale blue napkins and hand calligraphied place settings were being carefully laid out. Each table also housed a beautiful centrepiece floral vase with lots of mini vases dotted nearby. Blue hydrageneas, the most gorgeous deep peach roses and an abundance of foliage, filled the room with the most wonderful scent. The luxurious floral details filled every space from the entrance doors, the seating plan to the grand pillars of the conservatory to the cake table set up.
This couple’s special day had been so thoughtful styled, it really was an honour (as it is with all of my cakes) to be commissioned by them and their planner Lucy. To be chosen to contribute to one of the most special and important day of a couple’s lives is what motivates me and it’s an honour that I never take for granted.
As you can see from the images below, they had the most wonderful day and I wish them all of the happiness for their future!
