It’s such a pleasure to finally be sharing these images of Charlotte and Chris’ wedding with you!
The new Mr & Mrs Galvin got engaged back in 2019 and started planning their 2022 wedding soon after. I met them at a local wedding fair, just before the first lockdown in 2020 and knew straight away that they were ‘my kind of people’. Because of the pandemic, we held their wedding cake design and tasting consultation online and they loved the flavours they had chosen, which were:
- Raspberry & White Chocolate: A white chocolate sponge with fresh raspberries, home made raspberry jam and a white chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream
- Lemon & Elderflower: A lemon infused sponge with an elderflower sugar syrup, home made lemon curd and a lemon Swiss meringue buttercream
- Chocolate mud cake: A chocolate fudge cake with white chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream
In fact, they liked their flavours so much, they ordered another tasting box last year to celebrate Chris’s birthday!
Charlotte and Chris booked to their wedding at The Pear Tree in Purton, and enchanting country house in the Wiltshire countryside, full of English Charm. It’s every part the quintessential manor house from the exterior but full of modern design elements when you step inside.
When I arrived, Etiquette Events were busy styling the reception room in beautiful soft blush tones. One half of the reception room is surrounded by windows, showcasing the wonderful grounds outside and allowing lots of natural light in.
Beautiful crockery have been carefully placed on the tables with blush napkins, modern acrylic place settings and white floral balls stood tall in the centre of the tables.
The elegant blush theme carried through into the floral elements with the bride and groom opting for pale pink and white peonies, supplied by Longacres Flowers.
For their wedding cake, Charlotte & Chris wanted a classic 3 tier buttercream design but with bold pink elements to create a real wow factor for guests as they entered the room. I created a design that had a classic white background with dashes of light and bright pink buttercream to really add textured to the cake. The cake was completed with beautiful floral posies supplied by Longacres Flowers, adding a real elegance to the design.
I loved that Charlotte and Chris had given real thought to how they wanted their cake to be displayed. They had hired beautiful white plinths from Etiquette Events, which felt like the cake had it’s very own stage! Surrounding the plinths were candles and additional floral displays with fresh rose petals scattered on the floor, which created such a romantic feel.
I always feel incredibly honoured to be chosen to make a couples wedding cake; it really is an honour. And because Charlotte and Chris booked me early on in their planning, I feel like I really got to know them. They are just the most wonderful couples and they kindly took the time to leave me the following review:
“When looking for a cake supplier for our wedding cake, we knew we wanted the cake to be one of the most important focal points in our wedding. Our criteria was based on quality flavours, moist and luxury texture, flexible with design.
Enter Louise Hayes Cake Design, who we were so lucky to meet at a wedding fair! Unlike any other cake designer we had spoken to previously, Louise was extremely personable and lovely, asked questions and genuinely took an interest in what we were looking for to see if she would be a right fit for our needs, instead of saying ‘yes’ for the booking. What sealed the deal for us was the quality of the samples we tried….. absolutely OUTSTANDING! it was all we could talk about for the rest of the afternoon. The quality of the ingredients, the talent of the baking and designs on show were unbelievable. I even ordered another sample box shortly after our initial consultation, just because it was the best White chocolate & raspberry cake I had ever tasted… that white chocolate ganache… if you know, you know 😉.
Louise was extremely flexible when our designs changed slightly, before the wedding, including the additions of macarons as favours. The design she sketched out turned out to be an exact replica of the real thing…. my PERFECT wedding cake 🙂 and our guests were raving about the macarons!
I would say RUN, don’t walk to book Louise as your wedding cake designer. She is super talented, a genuinely lovely person, and her communication throughout the planning was exceptional, something which is really important when planning a wedding. But don’t take my word for it…. you MUST meet her at a wedding fair and try her samples… Divine!”
