Delighted to share the details of Harry & Lucy’s special day with you! It’s the first time I’ve delivered a wedding cake for a New Years Eve wedding and it felt even more special. Not only were Harry & Lucy’s guests there to celebrate this wonderful couples commitment to each other but they were also their to celebrate and welcome in a new year, as well as the groom’s birthday!!
Harry & Lucy chose the magnificent Botleys Mansion in Surrey for their wedding – an exclusive use countryside mansion just a stones through from London. They made the most of the spaces available to them in the venue with their ceremony being held in the beautifully light and airy Atrium and the cake taking centre stage in the Green Room
I initially received the enquiry for their cake from their wonderful wedding planner, Dale Alexander Events. Dale’s team sent me the mood board for the wedding, which was full of sophisticated glamour and rich colours with a hint of a Great Gatsby theme running through it. The couple wanted to give their cake designer full artistic licence to create a show-stopping cake for them – I was all in!!
There was definitely a nod to New Year’s Eve in the overall styling – beautiful florals from Seventh Heaven adorned the ceremony room with a stunning floral arch at the end of the aisle and cascading down the stairs but mixed amongst this were shiny and fun glitter balls – a hint of the party to come later!
After a consultation with Lucy & Harry and their planner Dale, I sketched several options for the couple to choose from. They liked elements of a few designs so with some adjustments, I merged their feedback into a design that they loved; a 4 tier modern cake which complimented their colour theme and gave them the wow factor they were looking for.
Lucy & Harry sent me the following kind words after their wedding:
“Louise was truly a wonderful wedding cake designer and creator for us. She made the whole process easy and enjoyable, and really picked up on the vibe of what we wanted.
Of course it goes without saying that the flavours were AMAZING! Raspberry white chocolate was our favourite but honestly all of the flavours she creates are beautiful.
We would recommend Louise in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Louise :)”
And their incredible planner, Dale Alexander Events, said the following:
“I recently had the pleasure of working with Louise Hayes for a clients wedding on NYE at Botleys Mansion.
Louise was totally outstanding from start to finish, from the enquiry stages right up to the day. Communication was excellent, the design of the cake was outstanding, and the price was great value for money. More importantly the cake tasted as good as it looked! Trust me, I have tried 100s of wedding cakes over the years working as a planner and Louise’s cake was one of the best I have ever sampled.
I would highly recommend Louise to all future couples and look forward to working with her again in the not-too-distant future.
Dale Alexander X”
