Luxury wedding favours and opulent dessert tables

Wedding favours are a long held tradition at weddings where as dessert tables are a relatively new concept. So what are they and should you have them at your wedding?

Wedding favours

Wedding favours were introduced centuries ago, given to guests as a way of thanking them for attending a wedding and have always been a traditionally sweet gift. They are a perfect opportunity to tie in your wedding colours and styling with many options to choose from. Here’s a few examples:

  • Sugar biscuits. Possibly the most versatile in terms of personalisation, these biscuits are soft, crumbly and sweet, and can be shaped, iced and decorated in so many unique and different ways. There is even the option to have each of your guests name embossed on their biscuit so it acts as a placecard aswell!
  • Macarons. These delicious bite-sized morsels are a perfect little treat for your wedding guests and can be beautifully packaged so guests can take them home to enjoy after your wedding if they prefer.
  • Cakesickles. Possibly the most adorable cake creation to come out of the baking world in recent years, a cakesicle is a miniature cake on a stick. Beautifully moist sponge is formed into a traditional ice-lolly shape, a heart or a sphere (there’s lots more options!), then coated in melted chocolate. These can be beautifully elevated and sophisticated with design options, colour schemes and embellishments.

Dessert Tables

Dessert tables are a great way of offering your guests a variety of options and can be beautifully designed to co-ordinate with your colour theme and wedding styling. They can be served alongside your wedding cake or with the right styling, can hold their own!

Consider how your dessert table will be displayed to have maximum impact. Think differing heights of display, beautiful signage so that your guests know what each item is, decorative elements such as flowers and candles to name a few.

Hannah Baskett, a wedding planner and stylist believes dessert tables can really elevate a wedding. She says:

“A dessert table is a really easy way to achieve an elevated and luxurious feel to your celebrations. You’ve spent time (and money!) on picking the perfect cake, one that’ll feature heavily in your wedding gallery so why not go all out and surround it with lots of little pieces of gorgeousness?! I love creating an opulent display around your cake, something that’ll not only wow your guests to look at but that they’ll thank you for with all the lovely treats they can help themselves to.”

So, there you have it. A quick introduction to dessert tables and wedding favours. In short, they are a perfect opportunity to pull in your wedding styling and colours, whilst also providing your guests with some beautiful and tasty sweet treats!
